Who We Are, Where We Came From

Individuals experiencing homelessness coming in from the cold for a warm breakfast; chilled to the bone, red noses, blue fingers. That's how it began in 2008. That's all it took for a couple of individuals working at Trinity Lutheran Church's Saturday morning community breakfast known as Neighbors in Need to take action. Today, more than 1,000 bed-nights are provided for over 100 individuals living in or around the Lynnwood/Edmonds area. Each guest is provided a hot dinner, warm hospitality, a safe place to sleep, a mat and blanket, and a hearty breakfast any night the temperatures drops below 34 degrees.

We are staffed by volunteers from the community that have a heart for those who suffer and have a special concern for the plight of those experiencing homelessness. Volunteers come from all walks of life, cultures and economic levels, but their compassion is the binding glue that now has more than 150 people involved.

The shelter location has moved many times in its short history but has found a wonderful home at Maple Park Church in Lynnwood. We are eternally grateful to this faith community.

The shelter is run by a working board of directors. Those serving in 2019-2020 are:
